After Holiday got burned on that three-pointer, he wouldn’t lose sight of Allen again. On the next two Boston possessions, they tried to get Allen clean looks by running him off screens. Holiday did an excellent job of shooting the gaps instead of following Allen around the screens. Instead of continuing on his normal path, Allen would usually fade away from a defender that shot the gap, but he couldn’t on these plays because of the location of the screen and bad passing angle for Rondo. Video of Holiday’s great defensive effort is below. Share this:TwitterFacebookRedditStumbleUponLike this:LikeBe the first to like this post. However, If I remember correctly J.J was never a point guard, not in high school, not in college not in the pros. Jimmer could certainly learn to play better D on the pick n roll. (although its a small bit funny, that Jimmer is guarding Chris Paul, while Redick is guarding Norris Cole) I think either Jimmer needs to define his own role, or the kings need to define it for him. Is he going to be a guy that sits in the corner all game waiting for an open shot? (Like J.J) Or is he going to try to be a point guard and lead this offense. Not all guards play pass first. Guards like Chauncy Billups,Mark Price,Steve Francis. The kings themeselves have said that Jimmer is their point guard of the future, even with I.T tearing it up(this was a little wierd) I am not sure what jimmer will turn into next season. Whatever Jimmer has, the kings don't need. They should trade him.

I thought a lot comments were spot on. I also think J. Like I said, I find the Redick/Jimmer comparison somewhat unsettling because it's a little TOO obvious and a little TOO easy. I don't know if you followed the link in the article, but my draft prospect similarity score system paired Redick with Jimmer going into last year's draft. It was a surprise because I didn't expect the numbers and the conventional wisdom to match up, usually they are like oil and water.
Again, I'm really glad you liked it and glad you felt like I added enough context to that comparison to make it worthwhile. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Thank you so much Jeff, really glad you enjoyed the article. I hate hearing the JJ comparisons because of the facts you pointed out with skin color and shooting ability. But you did a fantastic job comparing the two and showing the improvements that JJ has made and how they will definitely help out Jimmer. Great work. Love reading your stuff

Great great article. I thought everyone of your points was accurate and spot on. The unfortunate thing is that excessive negativity generates interest and if you don't have something insightful or perceptive to say it's about the only way to get people to pay attention to you. It's what Skip Bayless has built his career on. I hope that people who come to read this post are enjoying it for the humor as opposed to the negativity but perhaps they're not.
If I can shamelessly self-promote for a minute, I think the writers we have here at Hickory-High rarely delve into negativity for the sake of negativity. We try and back everything up with evidence and statistics. We try to celebrate the good and explain the bad. Keep checking us out over the next few weeks and I think you may find you'll like the tone of our site a lot more than you did this piece.

No worries Mike, if the players are open to criticism for their performance on the court, than I’m certainly open to it as well for the way I write about it. I just hate the way we (the nBa community) just cannabilize our stars. We find a way to rip any talent who isn't our hometown guy or a prefered personality. The bigger the star, the louder the voices are reiterating the player's flaws. No other sports community does that to their top guys.

I shouldn’t judge based on a post, you’re right.
